Neural networks like Midjourney give us the ability to create new visuals. But to do this they need tonnes of already created visuals to create datasets and train models. The human in this chain is the entity that creates one visual from another. This chain is like a chameleon that uses its eyes to gather information about its environment and then converts it into a pattern on its skin. We are faced with a reality where we cannot distinguish whether a machine or a human, artificial intelligence or natural intelligence, is speaking to us. My response is to shift the focus from humans to the non-anthropocentric forms of intelligence that existed before AI.
